The first floor
of this house felt dark and cramped to its residents, despite its large area and many windows.
Therefore, the goal of the renovation was to fill the building with light and enhance the sense of space through a more modern style and decluttering.
White color
is the client’s favorite color. I added a neutral light gray and a pale wood color.
Blue accents on the white background give a slight feeling of Greek white-blue houses by the sea. That’s why we planted a Japanese willow, reminiscent of a Greek olive tree.
Hexagons
The dining area is adorned with a fluffy pendant light and a wall panel made of hexagons.
The latter I made by hand using a series of panel constructors featuring hexagons and triangles.
Yantra
is a geometric diagram from the tantric tradition of Hinduism. It is used for meditation in temples or at home. The Sri Yantra, visible from the living room, represents the wholeness of the universe.
Triangles representing the masculine and feminine essences surround a point symbolizing the cosmic center. The lotus petals symbolize the power of life. Extensions on the sides of the square are doors to various zones of the Universe’s temple.
The ceiling lights
are arranged randomly with clusters in areas needing more illumination.
Result
The clients live here with great satisfaction. There is significantly more space and light now. The interior now has a distinct mood.
